The cabs of the new C Series Challenger tractors have been redesigned and equipped with the latest electronic controls. Included in the new controls is an integrated ISOBUS system that will communicate with any brand of implement. The ISOBUS controls are in the MT700C, MT800C and MT900C Series track and articulated tractors.

“Challenger is leading the industry in integrating ISOBUS into our on-board control center,” says Jason Hoult, product marketing manager for Challenger tractors. “ISOBUS is the future of electronic communications in agriculture, and the C Series Challenger tractors are leading the way.”

The ISOBUS system is part of the Challenger’s new Tractor Management Center (TMC) monitor. Nearly all tractor and implement functions are controlled from this one monitor. So all data from the tractor and any implement are automatically handled from the monitor and then transferred to a computer. As a result, an operator will not need to install another monitor in the cab with wiring to control new equipment, as long as the equipment also is ISOBUS compliant.

Hoult says that in the future, most farm equipment will operate on the standard communications language of ISOBUS. He expects this to occur in five to seven years.

The Challenger TMC also features a restyled console for better ergonomics and ease of use. All of the key function controls are on the console near the operator including a button to activate the Power Management feature, which operates the vehicle in the most efficient engine speed and transmission gear. Also included in the controls is a one-touch headland management system that allows preprogramming of sequences.

Hoult adds that all cab controls are more intutitive and simple while non-critical controls are in the cab roof line.
