Versatile [C] telehandler

Dec 1, 2000 12:00 PM, FARM INDUSTRY NEWS STAFF

At a recent farm show, J-D Manitou introduced a unique telescopic handler truck. Manufactured in France, the truck boasts a reach and capacity that are higher than those of skid-steer loaders.

Manitou designed two telehandler models just for the ag market: the MLT 629T listing for $59,000 and the 633TLS for $61,500. Various attachments are available, including a 1 1/4-yd. bucket selling for $2,000 and a silage facer for $8,500. The 633TLS model includes a load-sensing feature that allows the truck to accomplish two actions simultaneously, such as extending and tipping the boom.

The truck is equipped with a Perkins 1004.40 turbo engine. Load capacity is 6,000 lbs. on the 629 model and 7,000 lbs. on the 633 model. The fully enclosed cab contains all the features of a tractor cab. Both models are 90 in. wide. The 629 weighs 14,030 lbs., and the 633 weighs 15,745 lbs. The handler on both models extends 20 ft.
