An advanced transmission combined with easy operation make the new 7400 series Massey Ferguson tractors a good option for commercial farms. The MF 7400 series tractors with 4-wd are available in 95 to 155 PTO hp and are equipped with quiet, spacious cabs.

“With this tractor series, we have one of the most advanced transmissions in the industry, yet it is one of the simplest to operate,” reports Rene Boivin, Massey Ferguson general marketing manager.

Dyna-Step

The transmission, called Dyna-Step, offers a work speed range of 21 forward and 18 reverse speeds of up to 17 mph. The transport speeds are 21 forward and 15 reverse speeds, with a top speed of 25 mph.

The auxiliary hydraulics on the new tractors have their own oil reservoir and provide 29 gpm maximum flow. Operators can purchase an option remote valve management system (RMS) and Dot Matrix display to enhance the hydraulic system.

“Dot Matrix lets you visually monitor engine functions and wheel slip,” Boivin says. “It also controls flow to the 3-pt. hitch and remotes. If you have a 3-pt.-mounted planter with markers, you can decide if you want 100% flow to the planter first and then the markers or a mix of pressure simultaneously to both.”

Big power

The six models in the MF 7400 series are all equipped with turbocharged, air-to-air cooled engines with electronic injection. A 6-l 1106 Perkins engine is installed in the MF 7465 (95 PTO hp), MF 7475 (105 PTO hp) and MF 7480 (115 PTO hp). A 6.6-l 66 ETA SisuDiesel engine is installed in the MF 7485 (125 PTO hp), MF 7490 (140 PTO hp) and MF 7495 (155 PTO hp).

An electronic engine management (EEM) system lets operators preset two engine speeds and then select either by pushing a button.

The EEM, RMS and Dot Matrix are easy to reach in the new cab that features an air suspension seat.
