Hydrogen power

New Holland engineers have produced a prototype T6000 series tractor powered by hydrogen. The tractor's combustion engine is replaced with hydrogen fuel cells that produce electricity to run the tractor's drivetrain and auxiliary systems. A hydrogen engine generates only heat, vapor and water while operating silently. The drawback is that the hydrogen must be compressed, but engine companies have solved that problem. New Holland provided this artist's rendition of its NH2 tractor, which the company says is a “natural fit” with its Clean Energy Leader position. In the future, this could be a good buy.
