Challenger 500C Series
Challenger took the wraps off the new 500C series combines this month. The new Class VII Challenger 540C and Class VIII 560C have the same single rotor threshing system as the Challenger 600B series models they replace. But the guts of these machines were completely revamped to take on the challenges of today’s higher-yielding crops.
All wheeled Massey Ferguson and all Challenger tractors for North America are now being assembled at the Jackson, Minn., AGCO manufacturing facility. Prior to this, many tractor models were assembled in Beauvais, France. AGCO hired 200 new employees for the expansion project, according to Jay Mulso, manager of the AGCO visitor center. The Intivity Center at Jackson, MN, is now open for visitors to walk through interactive displays on AGCO’s history and the history of some of its brands like Massey Ferguson and Challenger. AGCO opened its doors today to its new visitors Intivity Center, where Farm Industry News editor Karen McMahon attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and participated in a first-time tour of both the center and AGCO's expanded manufacturing facilities. The Intivity Center showcases the history of AGCO and the evolution of its machinery. Five different high-horsepower tractor series will be built in the new manufacturing facilities: the Massey Ferguson 8600, Challenger MT600D, Challenger MT800C, Challenger MT900C and a new model to be introduced this year, the Challenger MT700D.
