Organic returns
Last August, Farm Industry News published my letter in which I pointed out that “organic” farming is detrimental to the environment because only cultivation is permitted for weed control and every tillage pass increases soil erosion.
My criticism was not directed at the “organic” grower. In fact, they're merely taking advantage of those consumers who want “organic” produce and are willing to pay double for a product that is, at best, the same.
The “organic” industry is dominated by the environmental extremists of the left. They disregard all the benefits of modern science and push their own anti-chemical and anti-GMO agenda. Unfortunately, they're aided and abetted by a friendly media and a few producers who spout the “green” rhetoric.
If you're an “organic” farmer and are growing produce to
take advantage of the “organic” niche market, more power to
you. But don't try to convince me that “organic” farming is
environmentally friendly or that your produce is better. It's
not!

Arts-Way has it
I have been trying to reach United Farm Tools (UFT) in Glasgow, KY.
I obtained this phone number, 502/651-7121, from the I&T Product
File on your Web site. It appears the area code changed to 270. I tried
that area code and still can't reach them. Can you help me find parts
for a stalk chopper that UFT marketed? Thanks for any help you can
provide.
