WOW! This eDrive is straight as an arrow.

Jul 1, 2004 12:00 PM

“When I got off the tractor after using the eDrive the first time, I told my son, ‘Wow! This eDrive is straight as an arrow,’” says grower Dave Clough.

Clough farms 1,600 acres near Fessenden, ND. The eDrive caught his attention because he knew of no other auto-guide system that had the flexibility to work with his particular tractor.

So far, he's used his new eDrive pulling a 66-ft. harrow, and preventing chemical overlap with a pull-type sprayer.

“I used to overlap three feet, maybe as much as four feet,” Clough explains. “And, it certainly wasn't always straight, either.

“With the eDrive, I can drive straight as an arrow, I'm finishing up fields at least five percent faster, and I could work all night if I wanted to.”

He says that another benefit of his eDrive is that he can devote more time to watching the implement he's pulling. There's no worry about driver error while devoting attention to something else.

Installation time went quickly, Clough reports. It took him just two hours to hook up the hydraulics of his new eDrive and to get the wires tucked in neatly.

“I figure what I'm going to save on chemical, fertilizer and seed costs by cutting out all that overlap will pay off my eDrive in only a couple of years,” he says.

“But it's really even more valuable than that, since I don't know how to figure in its making field work easier and with less fatigue. Wow!”
