PALM'S TREO smartphone, an all-in-one mobile communications device, has joined the Windows world with the Treo 700w smartphone. Previous versions used Palm's operating system, but the new model uses the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system and has full capability to use Microsoft Office applications for Windows Mobile, Internet Explorer Mobile and Windows Media Player Mobile.

Available from Verizon Wireless, it is the first Treo smartphone to take advantage of Verizon Wireless's BroadbandAccess service, which provides download speeds of 400 to 700 kilobits/second. Other features include a 1.3-megapixel camera, integrated Bluetooth connectivity and voice dialing.

The Palm Treo 700w smartphone is available from Verizon Wireless for $399.99 after a $100 instant rebate with a two-year service agreement and specified voice and data plans. Contact Palm at www.palm.com or Verizon Wireless at 800/922-0204 or www.verizonwireless.com.
