Agrium buys UAP

Agrium Inc. announced that it will purchase UAP (United Agri Products) to create the largest agricultural retailer in North America. The combined sales of the two companies will be almost $8 billion. Agrium will purchase the outstanding common stock of UAP for $39/share for a total transaction of $2.65 billion.

Agrium is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. “The acquisition will significantly expand our geographic base and our product diversity, and will offer an opportunity to leverage strengths of both companies,” reported Mike Wilson, President and CEO of Agrium.
