Premium on non-GM soybeans

Asoyia announces that its 2008 production contracts for 1% ultralow-linolenic soybeans will pay a premium of $1.45/bu, with freight allowances where applicable. The seed company, based in Iowa City, IA, markets the soybean oil from the non-genetically modified soybeans to food companies, which want the oil because it contains zero trans fat. Asoyia points out that growers planting Asoyia soybeans do not pay technology fees on the non-genetically modified varieties.
