Fungal disease protection

A Transgenic trait for the control of fungal diseases in corn and soybeans could be in the marketplace within the next six to eight years.
DuPont and Hexima Ltd. have announced an agreement to develop and commercialize certain biotech fungal disease resistance technology in corn, soybeans and other crops. The companies are joining forces to share intellectual property and anti-fungal protein assets to speed development, and Pioneer will commercialize the products in corn and soybeans.
“Hexima's technology works well with our proprietary gene-shuffling technology, and it is a partnership that will provide better products and greater value to our customers,” says Jerry Harrington, public relations manager at Pioneer.
The companies have not yet said whether the proprietary technology will be licensed to other seed providers.
