Seed trait – Agrisure Duracade from Syngenta

A new corn rootworm trait called Agrisure Duracade from Syngenta holds promise for controlling the destructive insect. The new trait expresses a unique protein (eCry3.1Ab) to control corn rootworms. The Agrisure Duracade trait should be available for market later this year following required regulatory approvals. It will be launched in two 5% refuge-in-a-bag products. Fungicide – BASF Priaxor

The new fungicide called Priaxor from BASF is designed to provide top protection of fungal diseases in soybeans. Priaxor is a 2:1 premix fungicide containing F500, the same active ingredient as Headline fungicide, and Xemium fungicide, a new active ingredient in the carboxamide family. BASF says the a.i. in Xemium continuously distributes its chemistry throughout the leaf for more consistent disease protection. Telematry system - Claas Cebis Telematics

The Claas Cebis telematics system, available on 600- and 700-Series Lexion combines and Jaguar 900-Series self-propelled forage harvesters, brings a new level of sophistication to remote diagnostics and monitoring. The system monitors 35 combine measurements, as well as onboard computer messages, alarm and maintenance codes. It collects critical data, including yields, grain losses, fuel efficiency, unloading waiting times and other efficiency factors. Google Earth is used to monitor machines in real-time and display efficiency factors. Herbicide – OpTill PRO, BASF

The three sites of action in OpTill PRO from BASF help the new herbicide control the growing number of glyphosate-resistant weeds. It’s a Premium Residual Option (PRO) for soybeans that is applied from preplant to preemergence. OpTill PRO can be used for burndown and residual control of grasses and tough broadleaf weeds like resistant waterhemp. The new product features BASF’s Kixor herbicide technology and the same active ingredient as Outlook herbicide used on grasses and small-seeded broadleaves. Visit agproducts.basf.com.
Tools –Filter Blaster, Salmon River

Blast dust from your combine’s filter with the Filter Blaster from Salmon River Innovations. The Filter Blaster is designed to quickly clean air filters used in large machinery like combines, tractors and trucks. Dennis Grieve who invented the Blaster says a filter may be cleaned up to 20 times. The Blaster is available as a shop model where the dust collects in a shop vac or a portable model used in the field. A source of compressed air is needed to operate it. Cloud-Based Management Tool: Winfield Solutions R7 Tool

The R7 Tool from Winfield Solutions, the seed and crop protection products arm of Land O’Lakes, harnesses the power of industrial-strength computers and software to bring a web-based precision planning tool to the farm. The tool, which was rolled out to Winfield retailers in the fall of 2011, allows farmers without extensive yield and grid soil sampling records to get a start in variable-rate seeding and fertility. It crunches data harvested from multiple years of satellite images to identify management zones and assist in building variable-rate seeding and fertilizer prescriptions, identifying top genetics and more. Autonomous vehicle – Autonomous Harvest System, Kinze

Online readership and requests for more information went off the charts after videos of Kinze’s new Autonomous Harvest System were posted on our website in September. The new system offers farmers a robotic tractor and grain cart system that should be headed to commercialization. The system includes a kit of equipment like sensors and cameras that is retrofitted on a tractor pulling the grain cart. And other than installing a computer, GPS and communications capability in the farmer’s combine, the system is ready to operate. Several farmers successfully tested the new system during harvest. Cloud-Based Communications Tool: Onsite, AgIntegrated

Onsite, a new cloud-based mobile and desktop application from AgIntegrated, promises to solve the challenge of wirelessly transferring precision ag data across multiple hardware and software platforms common in farming operations with mixed equipment fleets. Onsite links precision data stored on office computers to Internet servers that automatically download data to smartphones and tablet computers in the field. Onsite’s Relay wireless data transfer device completes final in-cab data transfer to and from precision displays via a compact flash card or USB drive. The annual fee per Onsite account is $499. Seed Treatment - Poncho-Votivo for soybeans, Bayer CropScience

The Poncho/Votivo seed treatment for soybeans is the first product in the industry to combine an insecticide with co-formulated bacteria. “The roots of the soybeans emit waste as they grow, and the Votivo bacteria feed off this waste and create a living barrier to keep nematodes form reaching the root system,” says Ethan Luth, seed treatment product manager, Bayer CropScience. In addition, the Poncho insecticide is absorbed into the plant to offer longer-season plant production. Poncho/Votiveo offers protection from insects and nematodes up to 45 days. Grain Handling – SQ16 Dryer, Brock

When Team FIN farmer Daryl Bridenbaugh shopped for a new grain dryer, he wrote about his experiences and the new dryer – Brock’s SQ16 model. Readers showed high interest in the horizontal dryer model and computer controller he selected. The SQ16 dryer and Quantum computer tests the grain moisture coming in at the top of the dryer and going out the bottom.
