New seed treatment for soybeans

EMD Crop BioScience introduces Optimize 400, a new soybean seed-applied product, for the 2010 growing season.

Optimize 400 brings improved seed treatment delivery for the company’s patented LCO Promoter Technology, rhizobia selection for nitrogen fixation, and inoculant formulation for higher rhizobia numbers.

EMD says its LCO (Lipo-chitooligosaccharide) Promoter Technology contains a naturally occurring molecule that enhances root and shoot development, nodulation and nitrogen fixation immediately and independently of the environment and soil conditions.

One box of Optimize 400 contains the LCO Promoter Technology and inoculant in a breathable bag, plus a liquid additive in a new plastic jug. Each box treats 400 units of soybeans.

Optimize 400 can survive on-seed for 120 days, expanding the application window to the winter months or within two weeks of planting. The company also says Optimize 400 has excellent seed coverage and improves the seed treatment operation.

Optimize 400 is now available from participating retailers.
