Save Your Life

The Farm Safety Handbook by Rick Kubik gives comprehensive information on how to adopt safe work practices in all areas of the farm. “Farm injuries have identifiable patterns,” Kubik explains. “By eliminating risk factors, the injury is preventable.”

The book covers everything from machinery to livestock and chemicals. Citing the fact that “one of every 10 tractor operators overturns a tractor in his or her lifetime,” Kubik explains how to check tractor stability and how to avoid a tipping accident in the seven “danger zones,” such as side slopes and edges of waterways. The book also includes case studies of accidents that have happened on the farm to break the silence that usually surrounds these tragic incidents.

The Farm Safety Handbook costs $19.95. Contact Voyageur Press, Dept. FIN, Galtier Plaza, Suite 200, 380 Jackson St., St. Paul, MN 55101-3885, 651/287-5000, visit www.mbipublishing.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 183.
