With Fuel prices high and the economy in recession, now is the time to scrutinize your buys. That's what Steve Webb did when he purchased his first new tractor, the Case IH Puma with 165 PTO hp. Webb doled out the money for the new tractor last fall when $4.50 corn left him with enough funds to forego repairs on his 20-year-old model. Before he made the purchase, the Needham, IN, grower looked at every make of tractor in the row-crop category and carefully scrutinized the tractors' every feature.
