I can't hear you
I was reading “In the year 2013…” [March, page 46] and questioned the opening for the article. “Witness the innovations in agriculture in the last 10 years. In 1993, who used a cell phone with ease practically anywhere?”
Is Kurt Lawton implying that now a cell phone can be used with ease practically anywhere? If he is, then he has not been in my area. I live near Columbia, MO. I can use a cell phone to make calls, because I can stop at certain points in the field and get a good signal. This is not going to improve. The cost of a tower to boost the signal and low number of calls from this area will prohibit cell phone companies from improving the signal.
The major highways and cities have towers for good coverage. Many providers advertise their coverage areas. The Verizon “can you hear me now” ad is a perfect example. If Verizon really wanted to promote their coverage area, they would guaranty that they can come to your area and get a signal.
I can't speak for other areas about their cell phone coverage, but I can't imagine that some of the low population areas that are not close to a major city or highway have good coverage.
Chain saw parts
I am trying to find out who bought the Mono line of chain saws. My saw is in need of points, condenser and a carburetor kit. I hope you can help me.
Mono Equipment has undergone a complete overhaul of its product line, and unfortunately it stopped making chain saws. No parts are available. You could try contacting a local machine shop to have the parts custom made.
