A new book entitled Classic Ford Tractors: An Album of Favorite Ford and Fordson Farm Tractors is designed as a photo album packed with images and detailed captions to provide a colorful overview of these popular farm tractors. Written by Cletus Hohman, the book covers the all-American vintage machines from the lightweight “mechanical mule,” which was the pioneering Fordson, to the 9N and 2N and the refined model 8N.
It covers the history of the revolutions in farming brought on by Henry Ford and provides colorful stories about key Ford personnel, such as Harry Ferguson and Harold L. Brock, who were involved in engineering Ford tractors.
The book is organized chronologically and includes a list of sources of information about specific tractor models.
The Field Guide to Farmall Tractors by Robert N. Pripps and Andrew Morland is an easy-to-use pocket guidebook to Farmall tractors. The book provides brief histories, model runs, specification details and color photos of more than 50 models of Farmall tractors. It contains a wealth of information about the row-crop tractor of the 1920s that could literally “farm all.”
Classic Ford Tractors and The Field Guide to Farmall Tractors cost $19.95 each and are available in bookstores. If you have problems finding a copy, call Voyageur Press at 800/888-9653 or visit wwwvoyageurpress.com.
