Two leading providers of precision guidance in the survey and construction markets have entered the agricultural arena to capture a share of one of agriculture's fastest-growing segments. Leica Geosystems, a company known for the Leica camera and machine automation in the construction and survey industry, is introducing a new real-time kinematic (RTK) guidance system that can be serviced and supported remotely over the Internet through a wireless cell phone link. The product, called mojoRTK (Mobile Job Console), is scheduled for release this summer. Topcon Positioning Systems, a leading developer and manufacturer of positioning equipment, recently acquired KEE Technologies of Australia to provide control and monitoring systems for agriculture.
