Protect your bales
Protect round bales from weather spoilage by wrapping them in plastic film from Binder-Wrap USA. The Binder-Wrap mechanism attaches to the front of the baler and wraps the bale in two to three layers of plastic film before it's ejected from the baler. It can be used on most round balers than do not chop. The company says it takes one minute or less to wrap each bale. A small control box - about the size of an answering machine - is located in the cab.
The company claims that the wrapping method virtually eliminates spoilage due to weather and eliminates the need for storing bales in a barn. The device can be fitted to balers that also have netwrap on the back. Operators can then switch from netwrap to plastic wrap with the control box. A new idea
The new variable chamber round balers from the New Idea brand of AGCO Corporation produce solid, high-density bales that offer easy handling and excellent weatherability, according to the company. Features on the 6365, 6364, and 6345 models include centering augers, stuffer fingers, and a hydraulically actuated slip clutch. The 6364 and 6365 models also have self-contained hydraulic systems that wrap the bale, disengage the drive, eject the bale, close the baler and reengage the drive with the touch of a button. The wheels on these new balers measure 16" x 6.5" x 8". The 6365 and 6364 can produce bales that are 72 inches in diameter and weigh up to 2,200 lbs.
AGCO also designed balers for smaller operations or hobby farmers. These include the 6343 and 6344 models. These balers only require between 30-45 hp to make bales that measure up to 54 in. in diameter and weigh up to 550 lbs.

New rakes and tedders
A new line of rakes and tedders has entered the North American market. Krone-North America has released its first North American line of double and quad rotary rakes and rotary tedders.
The working width of the rakes varies from 22 ft. 4 in. to 49 ft. Each of the five new rakes can be converted to transport position from the cab. They all feature cardanic suspension and tridem axles, hydraulically folding rotors, and a maintenance-free enclosed cam track. The KS-1250 and KS-1500 models feature center delivery, 4 rotors each and 13 tines/rotor. The KS-1401 has single or double windrow capabilities, 2 rotors and 10 tines/rotor. The KS-1201 has side delivery, 2 rotors, one with 10 tines and one with 13 tines. The smallest model in the line, the KS-761 has a variable working width of 22 ft. 4 in. to 24 ft. 11 in., 2 rotors and 13 tines/rotor. Price: $20,595 to $68,500.
Krone-North America has also introduced the KW and KWT lines of rotary tedders for North America. The working width of the new line-up varies from 22 ft. to 34 ft. 5 in. Each tedder can also be hydraulically folded for transport. All tedders feature round tine arms, which the company claims, are stronger than flat tine arms. Each tine coil wraps around the time arm five times, giving greater elasticity. The tines can also be adjusted to three different positions allowing the operator more flexibility for all haying conditions. Another feature of the tedders is a wide angle PTO shaft that allows an 80¢X turning angle.
The distinguishing feature between the KW line and the KWT line is that the KWT models feature a hydraulically operated transport chassis, wide-set transport wheels for maximum stability, and abundant ground clearance while moving.
The KWT line hooks up to a 3-pt. hitch while the KW line requires a 2-pt. hitch. The KWT-850 and KWT-1050 both have 8 rotors; the 850 has 6 tines/rotor while the 1050 has 7 tines/rotor. The KW line has either 6 or 8 rotors and 6 or 7 tines/rotor.
