Spray on bed liners

For the do-it-yourselfer, the Dupli-Color spray-on truck bed coating provides a durable, high-impact, vinyl polymer coating to protect truck beds from impact, scratches, inclement weather and rust.

You can apply the coating three ways: Spray it on using aerosol cans (about six to eight cans will cover an average truck bed); use a Dupli-Color spray gun; or use one of the company's roller kits with a quart- or gallon-size coating can. The spray gun includes a chemical-resistant hose, splash-proof cap and instructions. The roller kit comes with instructions, a professional-style roller pan, chip brush, scuff pad and the company's Textra Loop roller to create a textured surface. A new spray-on bed liner available from Midwest Line-X uses a polyol called SoyOyl made from soybeans. An average-size pickup truck with the new bed liner contains the oil from 1 3/10 bu. of soybeans, providing a potential use of about 250,000 bu. of soybeans/yr. SoyOyl was developed by Urethane Soy Systems Company, Princeton, IL.

The spray-on, polyurethane liner also can be used to coat silos, storage tanks and trailer interiors to rust-proof metal or other materials. Price was not available at press time. Contact Midwest Line-X, Dept. FIN, 2907 W. 3rd St., Sioux Falls, SD 57104, 605/332-0455.
