This St. Patrick's Day "green thinking" breweries will be delivering green beer with trucks fueled by biodiesel.

This St. Patrick’s Day make a toast to green beer and the breweries whose biodiesel-fueled fleets get it to your favorite watering hole! Breweries like Sierra Nevada, Red Lodge Ales, New Belgium Brewing Company, Steam Whistle Brewing and Stone Brewing Company regularly use biodiesel to fuel their long-haul and local delivery trucks.
The National Biodiesel Board (NBB) reports that Sierra Nevada, Chico, Calif., for example, has used a blend of up to 20 percent biodiesel for the last six years. Red Lodge Ales, Red Lodge, Mt., collects waste grease from its restaurant customers and trades it for finished fuel from a local supplier.
“The greening movement spreading through the brewing industry has a positive impact on other industries that follow their lead,” said Don Scott, NBB’s director of sustainability. Scott added that biodiesel is the best choice a fleet can make to reduce its carbon footprint.
You could say that these green fleets transporting green beer truly exemplify “the wearing of the green.” Have a happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day!
