Satellite System

The new RapidEye satellite-based imagery system provides imagery at specific locations anywhere on the globe every day. The five-satellite system went into orbit in August 2008, with the first images released to the public late in the year. The German-based company offers imagery services to a broad range of industries, including agriculture.

A gallery of its first images is available at www.rapideye.de. The image above, the first released by RapidEye, shows El Bolsón in Argentina near the Chilean border.
