A new collaboration between a major agricultural manufacturer and a precision technology company was just announced. Claas is partnering with Hemisphere GPS for the development of intelligent machine controls, which include precise guidance, automated steering, application controls, and remote data management.

The partnership includes co-development funding to Hemisphere for customized engineering of Hemisphere GPS technology to Claas specifications. Claas currently offers the option of Hemisphere GPS guidance products in its equipment. This agreement means that Hemisphere GPS products will be factory installed on Claas machinery and will be offered as aftermarket products by the Claas distribution network.

"We celebrate the expansion of our strategic partnership into a joint development agreement that will provide Claas customers with the most advanced integrated precision farming solutions available,” says Jens Moeller, managing director of Claas Agrosystems. "Our successful ongoing partnership with Hemisphere GPS has spanned 10 years and we are pleased to evolve this to a closer strategic relationship."

The new technology for Claas equipment is expected to increase the efficiency and ease of field operations. The combined efforts of Hemisphere GPS and Claas also will drive improvements for the most demanding farm practices, including high precision planting, strip tilling and bedding. Farmers using the new systems from Claas should experience uniform treatments, improved yields, reduced waste, and fuel conservation, all with much less operator fatigue.
