BOVINE WATERBED

DAIRY COWS rest in comfort on the dual-chamber waterbed from Advanced Comfort Technology. The waterbed is constructed of six-ply natural rubber with woven fiber to keep it from stretching and puncturing. Two layers of the rubber material are sealed together and water is inserted between. The sides are vulcanized to prevent separation. The bed reduces the need for bedding, provides traction for cows, and will not buckle when cleaned with a skid-steer loader.

Prices vary according to number of beds ordered, but the average price is $150/stall. The company says the product should last 15 to 20 years. The bed is 72 in. long and is available in widths from 42 to 54 in. Contact Advanced Comfort Technology, Dept. AUTO-DARK HELMET

MANY WELDERS have discovered the convenience and safety of an auto-darkening helmet. But those helmets can be expensive. Now prices are coming down, while comfort and features are improving.

The newest auto-darkening helmets from Lincoln Electric are one example. For $125, the company's Ultrashade Silver Elite helmet is built to be durable and lightweight to reduce fatigue on the job. The electronic optic system that automatically darkens the shade provides ample UV protection to ANSI Z87.1 standards. The optics cartridge, which comes with a two-year warranty, quickly snaps in and out of the helmet for replacement or cleaning and is powered by a solar cell rechargeable lithium battery.

GLOBAL TRACTORS

Zetor exhibited a new tractor series called Proxima. The company says the series is the new generation of its Range 1 tractors, manufactured in the Czech Republic. More than one million Zetor Range 1 tractors have been sold around the world. Changes to the Range 1 line give the Proxima series tractors more power/torque/efficiency from a redesigned Zetor engine, an updated transmission with easier shifting, updated controls and more powerful hydraulic systems.

Proxima tractors are all-mechanical and engineered to be easy and inexpensive to service. The Proxima series includes a 64, 74 and 84 series from 67 to 90 hp, all available in 2-wd or 4-wd, shuttle or non-shuttle, and cab or open station.

Prices range from $20,500 to $34,000. Contact Zetor North America Inc., Dept. FIN, 7301 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg, PA 17112, 877/469-3867, visit www.zetor.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 202.

SPRAY JUG CUTTER

TANK FILL and spray jug cleanup and disposal are easier with The Handler included as part of the sprayer system. The add-on unit uses a special knife and rinse system that lets the operator puncture, empty, rinse and discard plastic chemical jugs while filling the sprayer. An optional pump kit takes the chemical and rinsate up into the main tank while the user stays on the ground. The operation takes seconds and reduces the risk of falling or exposure to chemicals during fill operations.

The Handler is available in four different sizes up to 230 gal., with the smallest 15-gal. unit starting at $809. Contact Agro-Chem, Dept. FIN, 2045 S. Wabash St., Wabash, IN 46992, 800/686-5680, visit www.thehandler.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 203.

PLANTER WRENCH

Farmers who own a John Deere 750 drill know that adjusting seed depth can be a bit of a chore, requiring two hands and considerable maneuvering. The OneWrench is offered as a better alternative to Deere's OEM tool. Demonstrations at the NFMS showed how an operator can use the new wrench to adjust seed depth with one hand and without any additional tools. The wrench simultaneously releases the locking pin, rotates the depth adjusting plate and resets the locking pin when the desired seeding depth is reached.

For a price of $49.95, the wrench should pay for itself in reduced labor and frustration. Contact S.I. Distributing, Dept. FIN, 03221 Barber Werner Rd., St. Marys, OH 45885, 800/368-7773, visit www.sidist.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 204.
