European corn borer (ECB) is a pest all corn growers should be concerned about but scouting for corn borer can be a tiring, tedious task. The good news is, some scouting can now be done from your office. Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. has developed a Web site where corn growers can track current ECB pressure in their local areas throughout the 2001 growing season.

Locations throughout Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota are being monitored by Pioneer agronomists and NDSU and SDSU staff. The traps, which are checked daily, utilize a black light to catch the ECB moths. The data is then placed on the Pioneer Web site at http://pioneer.com/ecb/np/ecb.htm. The data can also be found on the NDSU Web site at: www.ag.ndsu.nodak.edu/aginfo/entomology/entupdates/ecb/ecb.htm or the SDSU Web site at: www.abs.sdstate.edu/plantsci/ext/ent/ent.htm. Tracking is recorded from the first of June until September.
