High-capacity sprayers

Feb 22, 2002 12:00 PM, By Karen McMahon

Two companies offer new or upgraded sprayers that have extra capacity to allow growers to spray more acres per day.

Century line. New Century sprayers from Hiniker Company are equipped with 80- and 90-ft. suspension-type spray booms and 1,000-gal. trailers. Growers control the fold, height and individual wing tilt functions of the sprayer from an in-cab console. An electric valve system requires only one pair of hydraulic outlets to control all boom functions. The transport width of the sprayer with booms folded is 111/4 ft. with a transport height of 121/2 ft.

Hydraulic accumulators provide cushioning at the center boom lift points and at the individual wing lift points. Self-returning, breakaway hinges dampened by shock absorbers help protect the 11-ft. outer wings from damage.

The sprayers carry a 100-gal. rinse/flush tank to field-flush chemical residues from the spray tank and through the plumbing and nozzle systems.

Suggested retail prices are $30,900 for the Century 80 sprayer and $31,500 for the Century 90 model. For more information, contact Hiniker Co., Dept. FIN, Box 3407, Mankato, MN 56002, 507/625- 6621, www.hiniker.com.

Field-Pro III updates. RHS has increased the size and capacity of several of its Bestway sprayers. The 1600 model features a 1,600-gal. tank capacity with a 90-ft. boom. The sprayer also includes an adjustable axle that goes from 10 to 12 ft. The wings may be modified to any width down to 72 ft. Price: $34,000.

The Bestway 1200 has a 1,200-gal. tank and 60-, 80- and 90-ft. boom widths. Cost of the sprayer with an 80-ft. boom is $29,000. For more information, contact RHS, Dept. FIN, 2005 W. Oregon St., Hiawatha, KS 66434, www.rhs-inc.com.
