EPA approves Agrisure RW corn trait

The EPA has granted registration approval for Syngenta’s Agrisure RW, a new corn trait designed to control rootworms. Agrisure RW is a modified synthetic gene from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) that affects the larvae as soon as they ingest the Bt protein. Agrisure RW will be available individually and in stacks with Agrisure GT (glyphosate tolerance) in most leading seed brands for the 2007 growing season. Steve Knodle, Syngenta marketing manager, explains the corn trait is combined with existing elite hybrids. The new hybrids will control rootworms while maintaining the performance of the original hybrid.
