Help Katrina Victims

Sep 9, 2005 4:25 PM, Wayne Wenzel

As the loss and suffering caused by Hurricane Katrina becomes increasingly evident, we hope our readers join their neighbors and us in offering all possible assistance to the victims and their families. The need is urgent and immense. Amidst this disaster, we are heartened to learn that farmers, ranchers and agricultural organizations across the country are sending donations of money, hay and supplies to assist farm families in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama whose farms and livestock were devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

Our publishing company, Primedia Business, is making donations to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund on behalf of the employees of Farm Industry News and more than 80 other publications. Many employees of Primedia are giving individually as well. If everyone helps, we can make a difference. Please work through your local charitable organizations or consider the following national organizations for your donation.

American Red Cross
1-800-HELP NOW (435-7669)

Also, for long-term assistance focused on farm families, the American Farm Bureau will contribute to a Hurricane Ag Fund. County Farm Bureaus, state Farm Bureaus and individuals may mail checks directly to the AFB Foundation. Donations are tax deductible when made out to AFBFA/Hurricane Ag Fund. Checks should be mailed to AFBFA/Hurricane Ag Fund, 600 Maryland Ave. S.W., Suite 800, Washington, DC 20024.
