New winter wheat herbicide

EPA has registered Olympus 70% WDG herbicide from Bayer CropScience for postemergence control of cheatgrass, downy brome, Japanese brome and many other grass and broadleaf weeds, plus suppression of jointed goatgrass in winter wheat.

The herbicide contains the new active ingredient propoxycarbazone-sodium. Olympus can be applied in the spring or fall, alone or with liquid fertilizer, at a rate of 0.6 to 0.9 oz./acre in a single application. It should be applied to actively growing weeds after wheat has emerged, but before jointing begins.
