THE AMERICAN Seeds Inc. (ASI) subsidiary of Monsanto recently purchased two more regional seed brands. ASI purchased Gold Country Seed Inc., Hutchinson, MN, and Heritage Seeds, Rensselaer, IN. Monsanto reported that it paid $8.7 million cash for the two companies, which together represent about 0.4% of total U.S. corn and soybean seed sales. ASI is a holding company for regional seed companies marketing corn and soybean seed.
