New Holland's BR series round balers produce bales from 4 x 4 ft. to 5 x 6 ft. The new balers replace New Holland's popular series 600, including the 644 and 658 models. With new model numbers ranging from BR730 to BR780, customers have five chamber sizes and eight distinct models from which to choose. XtraSweep pickups come in 71- and 82-in. widths.
Twine is the primary wrapping system, but a new EdgeWrap net wrapping system is available on all but the smallest model. It wraps around the edge of the bale with conventional wide net material.
For easier feeding and mixing, a new bale-slicing system is available on 4- x 5-ft. and 5- x 6-ft. models. With the new CropCutter rotary feeder-cutting system, the W rotor feeds crop material through 15 individually protected no-escape knives designed to chop quickly and efficiently. Rotor reversing is possible using either a manually operated or a hydraulic system. The balers are suitable for work in silage, hay and straw.
Preliminary reports indicate that Case IH has its own common-platform version of the BR round balers. The new Case IH round balers currently being sold outside the U.S. are the RBX452 and RBX462. Case IH has not yet officially announced that the new Case IH balers will be sold in the U.S.
