Make a 20 yr. old look brand new

Dealers for John Deere in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska are offering clinics to show you how to upgrade any 30, 40 and 50 series model so it runs, works and feels like a brand-new tractor.

Called "Dress Up a Deere Friend in '99," the list of upgrades information available includes safety basics like new lighting, safety handles, rear windshield wipers, front fenders, larger and better steps and inside mirrors. For creature cab comforts, they'll tell you about installing modern air conditioning, air-suspension seating and a sound system complete with speakers. To work easier, you'll see how to improve electronics, including power strip outlets, and how to install hydraulic receivers that are compatible with modern implements and remote lubrication for rear axle bearings.

If extensive engine repairs are needed, your dealer can overhaul the current engine or install a RemanSelect engine (completely remanufactured to exact specifications, carrying a one-year, unlimited-hour warranty). Renovation financing through the company's Farm Plan is available, and eligible owners will receive a waiver of payments and interest up to 90 days. The program goes nationwide in 2000.
