Power Networking

Mar 1, 2007 12:00 PM

The new Linksys PowerLine AV Ethernet Kit uses existing home and office electric wiring to network computers, entertainment products, printers and other peripheral devices. The kit comes with two Ethernet adapters and cables to connect two devices (such as computers, wired or wireless routers, or a printer) to the home wiring grid through an adapter plugged into a power outlet. You may purchase additional adapters to connect up to 16 computers and other devices. Data transfer speeds of up to 100 megabits/sec. are about four times faster than effective rates of commonly available wireless network devices. This makes the powerline-based system ideal for connecting computers with televisions and other entertainment devices that require high transfer rates, the company says.

Suggested retail prices are $179.99 for the kit and $119.99 for individual adapters. For more information, call 800/546-5797, visit www.linksys.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 152.
