Cargill to Reduce Carbon

Apr 1, 2007 12:00 PM

The Chicago Climate Exchange just gained another member. Cargill Inc. recently registered with the exchange and committed to reducing its U.S. greenhouse-gas emissions by 1% each year. If it doesn't, it will buy carbon emission credits on the exchange. “We recognize [carbon emissions] as an issue, we recognize it as a potential area of regulations, and we'd like to get a little ahead of the issue,” reports LaRaye Osborne, Cargill vice president and manager of Environment, Health and Safety.

Cargill is one of the exchange's larger members. - St. Paul Pioneer Press
