Planters, combines, and sprayers

For the first time at the National Farm Machinery Show, we sponsored seminars for show goers so that they could learn about new equipment without walking all 27 acres of the show. The three seminars covered new row-crop planters and combines and new precision technology for sprayers. See videos of these seminars, where company experts point out the technological advances of their newest equipment.

TALK

Need Clay parts

I am searching for a replacement belt for a seed conveyor made by Clay Equipment. The conveyor is used to move seed from wagons to planters. There appears to be no serial numbers on the conveyor. My best guess of the age of the conveyor is 15 to 20 years old.

Clay Equipment is no longer in business, but parts may be available from dealerships that used to sell Clay Equipment. Try contacting Jim Hodel Inc., 2278 County Rd. 1350 N., Roanoke, IL 61561, 800/562-8565; or Bambauer Equipment, 19151 Kettlersville Rd., New Knoxville, OH 45871, 419/753-2275.

SoilMover scrapers

A reader called to let us know that parts for SoilMover equipment may be obtained from Orthman Manufacturing. Orthman acquired the SoilMover scraper line from Automatic Equipment of Pender, NE, in September 2000. For information about SoilMover parts, contact Keith Gerringer at Orthman Manufacturing at 800/658-3270, ext. 7562.

Renewable energy

The renewable energy and energy efficiency industries represented more than 9 million jobs and $1,045 billion in U.S. revenue in 2007, according to a new report by The American Solar Energy Society and Management Information Services. According to the report, this number could grow to 37 million jobs by 2030 with action from policy makers.
