McCormick International continues to fill out its selection of tractors after its return to the U.S. market three years ago. This fall, McCormick added a series of value-priced tractors geared for utility work on the farm. Tractors in the new line called the C-Max series range from 59 to 99 engine horsepower.
The British manufacturer also is entering the U.S. loader market with its new L series of loaders that are designed to work with all of McCormick's tractors.
The C-Max series features five models equipped with 3- and 4-cyl. Perkins 1100-series engines. The 3.3- and 4.4-l engines run quietly, are fuel efficient, and meet Stage 2, Tier 2 emission levels.
Three transmission options are available: 12+12, 24+12 with creep, and 24+12 with overdrive. A dry-clutch synchronized shuttle with a neutral position allows for easy change of direction.
The open-center hydraulic system delivers up to 14 gpm at one standard remote and can be expanded to four auxiliary remotes. The driver uses two individual levers to operate the valves and an optional joystick, which handles two valves.
The C-Max series is available in 2-wd and 4-wd. The 4-wd boasts a 13-ft. turning radius due to a 55° steering angle. The 4-wd models also may be equipped with an IBS system on the front axle.
McCormick equipped the new tractor series with operator comfort in mind. The operator platform is mounted on four “silent bloc” points that reduce vibration and noise. The operating area is spacious. Although a foldable two-post ROPS frame is standard, the company will offer a climate-controlled cab for the tractors in 2005.
Suggested retail price range is $29,249 for the C60 Max with 2-wd, up to $45,857 for the C105 Max with 4-wd. Circle 209.
L series loaders
New to the loader market, McCormick is selling three series of heavy-duty loaders that fit on McCormick's C, C-Max, CX, MC and MTX tractors. The new loaders are equipped with the latest features, including joystick control, quick-attach mountings and fast-fit attachment couplings. A variety of attachments will fit on these loaders.
The three series of loaders are the L700 with two models, the L900 with two models, and the L1000 with five models. Depending on the model, the loaders will lift from 3,300 to 5,950 lbs. and will lift to a height of 11½ to 15 ft. The bucket dump angle ranges from 48° to 56°. The L700 series loaders and the L1005 loader are not self-leveling, while the L900 series loaders and the L1000 loader offer a parallel linkage design to automatically keep the bucket level and prevent spillage.
All of the loader models may be purchased with SoftDrive that reduces violent jolts. SoftDrive helps the loader become a stabilizing factor and a shock-absorbing counterweight. It reduces stress on both tractor and loader. The loaders also may be purchased with a quick-attach hydraulic connection to hook up all hydraulic hoses in one connection. Prices for the loaders range from $6,092 to $11,499. Circle 210.
