LAND PRICE OUTLOOK

WILL LAND prices soften this year after 18 years of trending up? Some farm real estate agents say they are seeing a little resistance to high land prices in some areas. Although high-quality land still sells quickly, less desirable land takes longer to sell, according to a Farmers National Company (FNC) report. “We have heard a lot of talk about a potential bubble in the farm and ranch land market, and people are asking when the bubble will burst,” says Lee Vermeer, FNC vice president of real estate operations. “While I don't see the bubble bursting, I do see signs of the market changing.” FNC agents report the inventory of land on the market is building and that it takes longer to market some properties.
