MYCOGEN CLAIMS that its new 4L377 and 4P424 alfalfa varieties offer later fall dormancy, good winter hardiness characteristics and excellent forage yield potential. The company says both varieties would be a strong fit for any grower's dairy or beef operation.
The 4L377 variety is equipped with a good disease package in addition to providing resistance to pea aphids and spotted alfalfa aphids. Fast recovery after cutting helps 4L377 protect forage yield potential.
Potato leafhopper resistance helps the new 4P424 variety deliver consistent yield advantages even when potato leafhopper populations are high, Mycogen says. In addition to leafhopper resistance, 4P424 is resistant to pea aphid. With a mid-range fall dormancy, 4P424 has very good winter hardiness and stand persistence.
