Bayer CropScience has launched Corvus herbicide for the 2009 growing season — a consistent, full-season, one-pass weed control product for corn.

Corvus is a combination of isoxaflutole and thiencarbazone-methyl for control of more than 50 broadleaf weeds and grasses from burndown through early emergence.

“Corvus provides growers additional flexibility in their weed control program,” says Jeff Springsteen, Bayer CropScience. “For most producers, it will be used in a preemergence weed control program. But in instances where producers are delayed by weather, Corvus can be applied to corn through the V2 stage.”

A half-inch of rain can reactivate Corvus. According to Bayer, Corvus controls Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, woolly cupgrass and yellow foxtail.

The recommended application rate is 5.6 oz./acre to all soils, except for coarse soils with less than 2% organic matter, which should have 3.3 oz./acre.

Corvus will be available for approximately 3 million acres in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
