Component protection

Lundell Plastics Corporation makes plastic parts that extend equipment life by protecting the components vulnerable to heavy wear. Lundell says its UHMW polyethylene wear shoes can be installed to protect a new auger or repair an old auger and will outlast steel two to one. At about $40/unit (covering one revolution of auger flighting), wear shoes are less expensive than replacing an auger.

Lundell also offers polyethylene flightings for use in seed handling. The company claims that durability of the flightings is similar to that of steel but the plastic is gentler on the seed.
