SIGNS READING “Inventors Welcome” lined the streets in front of local businesses in Redwood Falls, MN, while inventors from all over the United States displayed their innovations at the town's annual Inventors Congress. Here are a few of the congress's more practical inventions designed to make farm work easier.
Hell-Ya Hitch Helper
Developed by Miller, SD, native Bob Cremer, the Hell-Ya Hitch Helper levels a vehicle hauling heavy equipment. Coming in both single and dually design, the product attaches to any 2-in. receiver hitch. When the vehicle is pulling a heavy load, the product improves the vehicle's front-end stability by keeping its rear end up.
Cremer came up with the Hell-Ya Hitch Helper to assist him when he needed to haul heavy machinery with a pickup truck. It has easy height adjustment, is powder coated, and comes with a one-year warranty.
The new product's interesting name was chosen as an answer to many questions, explains Hell-Ya Productions Corporate Secretary and Treasurer Sandra Holt. She says, “Can it pull a trailer? Hell-Ya. Can it be hooked up to a tractor-trailer? Hell-Ya.”
Price: $599 for a single wheel unit and $1,129 for a dually. Contact Hell-Ya Productions Inc., Dept. FIN, 114 E. 2nd St., Miller, SD 57362, 877/851-0096, visit www.hell-ya.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 200. Productions is welcome to dealer inquiries.
Wayne Tjeerdsma came from Avon, SD, to promote his invention, the Handle Clamp. Mounted to the exterior of a tractor, livestock trailer or any vehicle, the clamp securely holds tools stable while the vehicle is in motion. The Handle Clamp installs easily and has torsion spring assembly providing firm grip of any tool up to 2¼ in. in diameter, such as a broom, shovel or grease gun.
The Handle Clamp is currently being sold in truck repair shops. Tjeerdsma is interested in finding a manufacturer.
Price: $28.00. Contact Slectro Co. Inc., Dept. FIN, Box 226, Avon, SD 57315, 800/355-3221, visit www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 201.
Eliminate clutter and store your tools securely in Tools Away, developed by Dave Udy, president of HandiSolutions. Tools Away holds up to 15 tools in one square foot of floor space, in its sturdy, high-impact plastic organizer. This new product allows easy access to gardening tools and sporting equipment with its positive locking system. Tools Away mounts directly to the wall.
Udy currently seeks distributors, dealers, joint ventures and licensing partners for his product.
Dolly Saver Lift Kit
Take the weight and pressure off the trailer dolly with Dale Schak's invention, the Dolly Saver Lift Kit. The Dolly Saver raises the rear frame (fifth wheel plate) 2.4 to 3 in. on any over-the-road truck-tractor with air ride. Schak says the new product makes hooking up and cranking dollies effortless by telling the air ride to go up 3 in. The Dolly Saver engages once the park brake is applied and takes only a few minutes to lift. Whether the trailer is loaded or empty, the Dolly Saver lifts the same height.
Schak manufactured the Dolly Saver to prevent driver injury as well as to prevent costly dolly leg repairs. It is simple to install, taking only an hour and a half per truck.
Schak has tested the Dolly Saver on his own trucks for more than a year and has covered 300,000 miles without any failures. He says, “My drivers think it's the best thing.”
Schak is interested in finding a manufacturer for his product and someone to market it.
Price: $150. Contact Dale Schak, Dept. FIN, Box 253, Tyler, MN 56178, 507/247-3919, visit www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 203.
