New Holland bills its new TL series tractors as an economical choice for loader work, haying and roadside mowing. Just how economical is up to the buyer, with prices starting at $25,000 for a basic TL70 model, to more than $50,000 for a fully equipped TL100 Deluxe. The tractors, which offer a wide range of options from 66 to 82 PTO hp, are available with 2-wd or FWD and with a cab or ROPS.
Standard features include New Holland's 12 × 12 SynchroCommand mechanical shuttle transmission, which allows a loader operator to shift and shuttle on the go. A dedicated, left-hand mechanical shuttle lets the operator control forward and reverse with the left hand and control the loader with the right. A sloping hood and “A” pillar exhaust improve loader bucket visibility. There's 14.5-gpm hydraulic flow from the gear pump for fast and dependable hydraulic operation. Two optional mid-mount valves and couplers with dedicated joystick control can speed loader operation further. The 52A loader has a 3,720-lb. lift capacity, a lift height of 135 in. and a reach of 48 in.
The TL transmission, with four gears in each of four ranges, reduces the need to shift between ranges. Seven gears are available in the working range of 2 to 9 mph. The standard 4-cyl., 283-cu.-in. New Holland engine provides useful lugging capacity in a 1,000-rpm range. Torque backup is 31% on the TL80/TL90 and 39% on the TL100. The 3-pt.-hitch capacity is 6,650 lbs. on the TL standard and up to 7,900 lbs. on the deluxe model. The TL90 and TL100 have a 540/1,000-rpm PTO as standard equipment.
