The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) this week released its February flash report on unit retail sales of tractors and self-propelled combines.

Sales of 2- and 4-wd tractors and self-propelled combines this year are tracking higher than the five-year average of sales for these products, according to the chart.

A total of 310 self-propelled combines were sold in February 2012, while in the same month this year, 533 combines were sold, making February 2013 sales 72 percent higher than February 2012 units sold.

Year-to-date for 2013, a total of 1,071 self-propelled combines have been sold, with beginning inventory levels of 1,111 units on dealer lots.

Unit sales of 2-wd farm tractors Year-to-Date 2013 showed an increase from Year-to-Date 2-wd farm tractors in 2012 of 16 percent.  

Four-wheel-drive tractors posted Year-to-Date unit sales of 1,097, whereas the 2012 number was 734, making the increase in total sales 49.5% for the first two months of 2012 compared to the first two months of 2013.
