Liquid supply trailer

Oct 3, 2005 2:22 PM, Wayne Wenzel

A twist on the old water wagon concept, the Redball model 1700 liquid supply trailer can do more and go more places than an old-style tank on wheels. The unit’s 1,600-gal. plastic tank is nonreactive, easy to clean and supported by a specially designed trailer frame that is maneuverable enough to supply liquids to a planter, strip-till system, field cultivator or spray equipment.

With just a quick adjustment with an operator-side cam lever loc, one person can convert the trailer to 4-wheel steering mode, so the rear tires follow the front around a tight 11-ft., 10-in. turning radius. It can be switched back to 2-wheel steering for backing up and better road travel. There’s also an extendable tongue to accommodate different machinery configurations. Ground clearance is 31 in.

Instead of leaf springs on the axles, Redball uses a weight-saving rubber-torsion Henschen suspension system similar to that used as a shock absorber on the company’s spray booms. Dry weight is about 3,586 lbs. Full capacity weight is about 22,786 lbs. Options include axles that can adjust from 120 to 160 in. wide to accommodate different crop conditions, ladder and service platform, hydraulic centrifugal pump and a Raven speed-compensating controller with Banjo electric ball valves.

Base price without options starts around $12,000. For more information, contact Redball, Box 159, Benson, MN 56215, 877/332-2551, or visit www.redballproducts.com.
