John Deere exhibit

John Deere's exhibit featured a variety of equipment, which was always swamped with farmers.
John Deere's multifuel tractor

John Deere displayed a concept multifuel tractor that will run on different mineral or plant fuels in a single tank. The engine is equipped with sensors to measure the fuel's viscosity, density and other parameters. The engine control settings then adjust to correctly operate the tractor and still meet Tier 4 pollution control requirements. The special engine earned John Deere a gold medal in the SIMA Innovation Awards contest. It is not available for sale.

The farm equipment market in Europe is highly competitive. Many of the manufacturers posted lucrative financing options, including this 0% financing for four years on John Deere tractors and combines.
John Deere irrigation equipment

In Europe, John Deere has focused on water issues, offering irrigation equipment for growers.
Geringhoff row-independent combine head

The Geringhoff concept combine head that is row-independent was exhibited in the company's exhibit at SIMA. It made a big splash last year at National Farm Machinery Show. The head will harvest corn and other crops from any direction, opening the possibility of solid-seeded cornfields.

Great Plains seeder

Great Plains had an impressive exhibit in the Paris show. Some of the equipment was unfamiliar, however, like this Centurion 600 seeder.

Great Plains also displayed the Simba 400, which offers some aggressive tillage action.
A Polaris forest model

Minnesota's Polaris displayed an interesting "forest" model of the popular Sportsman 800 ATV.

The SIMA farm show held in late February celebrated its 75th year with record attendance of 248,000 people. One-fourth of the attendees were from abroad. More than 1,700 companies exhibited at the show, which is held every two years. This year's show featured many companies well known to U.S. growers. Here are highlights of the exhibits for John Deere, Geringhoff, Great Plains and Polaris.
