Tribine grain harvester

One of the show-stoppers was the unveiling of a new prototype combine that integrates a 1,000-bu. grain cart in its design. Tribine Industries, the developer of the product, says this articulated unit is the “first fundamentally new harvester architecture since combines were made self-propelled in the 1940s,” and introduces a number of efficiencies as a result. The Tribine grain harvester is a “concept” unit and is currently undergoing testing. Ben Dillon, the inventor and designer, said the price will be comparable to a tractor and grain cart combined.
AGCO concept planter

Gary Hamilton, marketing manager for AGCO-White Planters, shows what he envisions as a “smart planter” row unit that could anticipate field bounce and automatically adjust tractor speed to avoid it. The concept planter also would have soil sensors that would allow for on-the-go planting depth adjustments to optimize plant emergence.
Hardi Saritor self-propelled sprayer

Hardi North America attracted a lot of attention for its first showing of the Saritor and Presidio self-propelled sprayers. This is Hardi’s first entry in the self-propelled sprayer market.

The Saritor self-propelled sprayer has a tank capacity of 1,050 or 1,300 gal. with booms as wide as 132 ft. A new-generation Cummins engine delivers power that outperforms the competition, the company says. A hydrostatic high-speed SAUER-Danfoss transmission provides speed, torque,progressive acceleration and braking.
Hardi Presidio self-propelled sprayer

Hardi's Presidio self-propelled sprayer has a 700-gal. main tank and 70-gal. flush tank integrated into the chassis, providing a low center of gravity and good weight distribution. EAGLE boom widths range from 75 to 90 ft. The sprayer is powered by a 173-hp Deutz engine. A 4WD, 3-speed hydrostatic transmission with cruise control is standard.
Case IH Precision Disk 500T/500 air disk drill

Unveiled for the first time is the Case IH Precision Disk 500T/500 air disk drill. This product was totally redesigned from the ground up for best-in-class seed placement accuracy in crops, including soybeans, wheat and milo. At the heart of its design is parallel linkage on each row unit to maintain the optimal planting depth across varying ground conditions. The new offering includes the Precision Disk 500T with an on-board bulk seed tank in 25-, 30- and 40-ft. working widths and the Precision Disk 500 in 30- and 40-ft. sizes, which are paired with a tow-between or tow-behind air cart.
Case IH Patriot 2240 sprayer

Case IH took the wraps off its new Patriot 2240 sprayer, a new Class 2 sprayer for smaller-acreage farmers and those who grow specialty crops. The Patriot 2240 sprayer is smaller and lighter, offers a narrower track spacing than the larger Patriot models, and has more ground clearance than competitive sprayers in its class, the company says.

Farm Industry News senior editor Jodie Wehrspann travelled to Kansas City, Mo., to cover the 2013 Ag Connect Expo, the biannual global trade show of farm products and technologies. Farmers, manufacturers, engineers and others in the agriculture industry from the around the globe gathered at this three-day event held at the Kansas City Convention Center. Nearly 400 companies exhibited, requiring 30% more exhibit space than previous years.

Members of the media were among the invited guests to get a first look at more than 150 new products and technologies on display for an estimated 9,000–plus attendees who walked the show floor. Here is just a sampling of products on display. Also check out the products on Day Two.
