Trimble RTK expands

Sep 1, 2007 12:00 PM

Precision guidance signals continue to expand across the country. Today, 120 million acres in North America receive a Trimble AgGPS real-time kinematic (RTK) network signal. An RTK signal lets growers operate automated steering equipment with 1-in. repeatable accuracy. More than 40 RTK networks are equipped with the Trimble RTK systems.

An individual 100-ft. tower will cover 100,000 to 120,000 acres. The networks usually are owned and operated by independent agricultural dealers like Kunau Implement of DeWitt, IA. Kunau, a Case IH dealership, helped Trimble celebrate its achievement of 120 million acres of coverage at the dealership's GPS field day in August.
