LOW-COST GUIDANCE

Dec 1, 2005 12:00 PM

THE OUTBACK S2 features receiver improvements, enabling it to achieve a 50% increase in accuracy and performance over its S model predecessor. Like the previous model, the Outback S2 is an easy-to-install, easy-to-use, low-cost guidance system featuring a 10-Hz differential GPS WAAS (wide area augmentation system) receiver and steering guide. It enables operators to drive straight rows, with no skipped areas and minimal overlaps, to achieve major cost savings in fuel, fertilizer and other production input costs.

In addition to improved accuracy and even less overlap, the S2's improved receiver capabilities enable it to achieve faster start-up and GPS signal acquisition times. The S2 now has update rates of 10 Hz, lower power consumption, and radar-simulated ground speed output. Price: $2,899. The unit works as a stand-alone basic guidance system or partners with Outback Baseline, Outback 360 and Outback eDrive for additional functions, such as replacing disc markers and allowing controlled traffic operations.
