New sensor detects AC lines, studs, rebar and more
Zircon’s new MultiScanner OneStep is a five-function scanner that finds the centers of studs and joists up to 3/4 in. deep in the normal mode and detects studs 1 1/2 in. deep in the DeepScan mode. It finds ferrous metals, such as rebar, in concrete up to 3 in. thick, and copper and other nonferrous metal up to 1 1/2 in. deep. The operator can turn off the wood and metal scan functions to find and trace hot AC wires on a backlit LCD screen, even through plastic conduit. As a safety feature, the scanner constantly searches for hot unshielded AC wiring.
