Drill seed right in the trench

Dec 1, 1998 12:00 PM

Schaffert Manufacturing, the company that brought you the Rebounder seed deflector attachment for planters, now offers a unit to be used on double-disc drills.

The Rebounder 2000 works much like the planter unit because it funnels seeds toward the bottom of the seed trench to eliminate stragglers or seed bounce.

The attachment can work in any soil - even tough, wet conditions - yet is flexible enough to pass above the bottom of the seed trench without putting pressure on the seed, according to the maker.

The unit has seven holes in 3/8-in. increments to adjust seed placement for various trench depth. Its mounting bracket features four holes for easy attachment.

For in-row fertilizer or liquid inoculant, a molded-in tab accommodates a 1/4-in. hose or micro tubing.

Drill brackets come in sizes to fit most drills and are priced at $22.95/ row plus shipping. Contact Schaffert Mfg. Co. Inc., Dept. FIN, RR 1, Box 157, Indianola, NE 69034, 800/382-2607.
